Taper Point PDS™ II Absorbable Suture, 1/2 Circle, 26 mm, 2-0, Violet, 8" x 18" SH CR is a monofilament surgical suture made from polydioxanone, a synthetic polymer known for its prolonged strength retention and biocompatibility. The suture is violet in color, aiding visibility during placement. It is designed for internal soft tissue approximation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular procedures, ophthalmic surgery, and other applications requiring extended wound support.

The suture exhibits a smooth surface, enabling it to pass through tissue with minimal resistance. This monofilament structure significantly reduces tissue drag and lowers the risk of infection compared to braided alternatives. Its low tissue reactivity makes it ideal for procedures where minimal inflammatory response is essential.

PDS™ II maintains approximately 80% of its original tensile strength at two weeks, 70% at four weeks, and 60% at six weeks post-implantation. This extended strength retention supports healing tissues over a longer period than typical absorbable sutures, providing critical support in areas subjected to prolonged stress or tension.
