Description

Coated VICRYL RAPIDE™ Suture, 3/0, 27", Braided is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable surgical suture made from a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is designed for use in superficial soft tissue approximation where only short-term wound support is required. The suture is violet or undyed and is coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to reduce tissue drag and enhance handling.

This suture offers initial tensile strength comparable to that of Nylon and Gut, making it suitable for closure of skin and mucosal tissues. It provides the handling characteristics of a braided suture with the absorption profile of a fast-absorbing material. Knot security and ease of use are optimized through its braided construction and coating.

Coated VICRYL RAPIDE™ Suture elicits a lower tissue reaction than chromic gut, contributing to a more favorable healing environment, particularly in sensitive or inflamed tissues. Its synthetic composition avoids the enzymatic degradation seen with natural sutures, offering a more predictable absorption profile.
