MONOCRYL™ Monofilament Suture, Violet, 36", Size 2-0 is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. It features a smooth monofilament structure that minimizes tissue drag and reduces the risk of fraying. The violet pigmentation enhances visibility during surgical procedures, aiding accurate placement.

The suture causes significantly less tissue reactivity compared to natural absorbable materials such as chromic gut. It passes through tissue with minimal resistance, reducing trauma and supporting optimal healing. The monofilament construction also limits capillarity, decreasing the potential for bacterial wicking along the suture line.

Frequent surgical applications include closure of the bladder, gastrointestinal tract, reproductive organs, and subcuticular skin closures. It is also used in linea alba or fascia closures in young and healthy animals where healing is expected to proceed quickly. Its handling characteristics, knot security, and predictable absorption profile make it a preferred suture for soft tissue approximation requiring short-term support.
