Description
18" Clear PDS™ Plus Monofilament Suture with PC-1 Needle, Size 6-0 is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture composed of polydioxanone and coated with the antibacterial agent triclosan (Irgacare® MP). It is designed to provide extended wound support while reducing the risk of surgical site infections by inhibiting bacterial colonization on the suture surface.
This monofilament suture retains approximately 60% of its original tensile strength at 2 weeks, 40% at 4 weeks, and 35% at 6 weeks. Complete hydrolytic absorption occurs between 183 and 238 days. Its degradation profile allows for use in tissues requiring long-term support during the healing process, while minimizing prolonged foreign body presence.
The clear suture material offers low tissue reactivity and smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and reducing the risk of irritation. The use of a PC-1 precision conventional cutting needle enhances penetration through dense or keratinized tissues such as skin and mucosa, making it suitable for plastic, dermatologic, and subcuticular closures.
