Violet Coated Vicryl 0 CTX 36" Suture is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of Polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolide and lactide. This suture is intended for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. It is suitable for use in ophthalmic procedures and across various surgical specialties, including gynecology, orthopedics (as a secondary option), and general surgery. It is not designed for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues due to its absorption profile and tensile strength limitations.
Violet Coated Vicryl maintains approximately 50% of its tensile strength by the third postoperative week, supporting wound healing during the critical phase of tissue regeneration. This gradual reduction in strength aligns with natural tissue recovery timelines in non-load-bearing anatomical areas.
